Kira's four-year tenure at Metrie began in the warehouse, working on the production line. Through dedication and ambition, she transitioned to a production scheduling role, where she spent three years streamlining processes and enhancing team collaboration. Recently, Kira was promoted to door shop lead hand, managing both day and afternoon shifts while focusing on team leadership and scheduling.
Kira's approach to leadership emphasizes creating a supportive environment where team members feel heard and valued. By conducting one-on-one sessions to understand their career aspirations and providing tailored support, she has cultivated a culture of teamwork and growth within her team. Kira commented on her approach prior to moving into her current leadership role she said,
“I went for more of the best friend at work vibe vs. I’m a leader or supervisor. I think this helped building trusting relationships ahead of me taking on a leadership role.”
Kira's involvement in the Women's Network at Metrie has been instrumental in championing diversity and empowerment. Through initiatives like the frontline women and her position as chairwoman, Kira has led efforts to engage and support frontline female employees across North America, emphasizing career development and creating pathways for success. We asked Kira what advice she might offer frontline women looking to advance their careers and she told us,
“Embrace rejection and setbacks as a learning opportunity, step outside of your comfort zones, and never hesitate to ask for help.”
