WOOD. ORGANIC AND FULL OF PERSONALITY – THERE’S NOTHING QUITE LIKE IT.
We use wood as a catalyst for transformation. Each species has the power to redefine a space and lend a character that is completely unique.
Learn and Explore the Benefits of MDF – Medium-Density Fibreboard
An engineered wood product made from natural wood fibers combined with resin and wax for binding.
High quality raw material: MDF’s uniform nature gives it consistency from surface to core, allowing for high detail and precise machining techniques run-to-run.
Easy to paint: MDF provides a flat, smooth surface that is uniform, dense and free of knots & grain patterns, which makes finishing operations simpler and more economical. MDF products are typically sold primed or painted, but are available raw as well.
Smart length supply: Engineered products create a variable length supply. This allows for custom lengths catered to specific requirements to prevent waste.
Domestic, high quality manufacturing: Metrie produces MDF moulding products domestically in North America. This allows for responsive lead times, higher inventory turn rates and more accurate forecasting. In addition, our unwavering focus on quality with multi-stage quality control checks mean that our mouldings are among the highest quality available.
An engineered MDF, in our patented pre-painted solution.
Finish before you start™: Metrie Complete® takes the hassle out of your renovation with pre-painted trim and moulding that’s ready to cut and install. No painting means fewer steps and less mess. You’ll finish your project faster and start enjoying your transformed space sooner.
Durable, high-quality finish: One of the best qualities of Metrie Complete® is that it is pre-painted and has a protective top coat applied, this adds to the durability of the finish; making it super easy to wipe clean with a non-abrasive cleaning agent and clean cloth.
Color-matched accessories: Finish the job with ease using color-matched accessories, made specifically for our pre-painted moulding. They’re designed to make touching up minor imperfections a breeze.
Learn and Explore the Benefits of Natural Wood
Small pieces joined together with glue and interlocking "fingers" to create a zig-zag effect at the join site.
Lightweight & easy to install: Easy for one person to handle and holds nails well, making it convenient for a variety of projects.
Less expensive than other woods: Finger jointed pine is less expensive than solid wood, but has all the benefits and characteristics of ‘real’ timber, including a visible grain.
Engineered to stay straight: It is less prone to twisting and warping, with all knots removed during manufacturing.
Durable: The longevity of real wood will reduce your risk of early replacement and save you money in the long run.
Among the softest woods in the hardwood family. Straight, uniform grain with a medium texture that makes this wood easy to work with.
Superior paint and stain ability : Eastern North American Poplar is an extremely versatile wood, and has a consistent texture that sands easily for a smooth painted or stained finish. Often called “the painter’s wood”, it is commonly the preferred paint grade species by upscale builders.
Natural fibers: Due to the wood being pitch and resin free, there is no bleeding or blotching through the finished surface. The straight grain also accepts nails and screws more readily without splitting.
Precise details : Natural wood allows for crisp corners and edges when manufacturing moulding profiles.
Strength in quality : The finger-jointing process creates a stronger finished poplar product due to a polymer-based glue joint and high quality primer that renders the joints invisible when painted. Both the glue and primer used meet LEED requirements.
A superior lumber material that is even-grained with a fine texture.
Wood pitch and resin free: Eliminates blotching and bleeding through the finished surface.
Superior stain-ability: Often considered a design chameleon as is it suitable for all colors of stain or clear coat finishes.
Consistent color: Little variation in grain or color allows for easy installation
Durability: Hold nails or screws very well, with no concerns over cracks or separations in the wood. Its resistance to scrapes and dents makes it ideal for use in high-traffic areas.
Variety: Available in mixed and vertical grain as well as lengths from 6' to 20'
The premier interior wood species in softwood moulding
Premium: Metrie specializes in higher end species (Coastal BC Douglas Fir) which is cleaner in grain and characteristics. Tight growth rings make it a stable product in all climates.
Finish: Typically finished with clear coating. It has rich, natural red/orange tones with lots of warm wood characteristics.
The hardest of the soft woods: Being the hardest of all softwoods, Douglas Fir mouldings hold nails or screws well, with minimal cracking or splitting. Its resistance to splintering and scrapes or dents make it ideal for use in high traffic areas.
Exteriors: Doug fir makes a great protected exterior product (patios, flooring). The Core of Douglas Fir trees is heartwood (naturally rot resistant).
Available in lengths up to 20’.
Lend timeless aesthetic and broad versatility to any project.
Superior stain ability : Oak mouldings are suitable for all colors of stain or clear coat finishes. This versatility allows you to finish your oak mouldings to match doors, floors or cabinets with a variety of wood finishes.
Consistent color : With little variation in grain or color, you can easily install oak mouldings throughout the home without spending time matching each piece. They are a consistent light brown shade with a hint of red.
Consistent Bright White colouring for high-end finish.
Consistent white color : Lumber specifically designed to produce the most consistent, bright white maple mouldings.
Hard or soft selections
Smooth finish: Maple mouldings have a clean, smooth finish with a tight grain, suitable for any high end application.
