With the season four premiere of American Horror Story: Hotel having aired last week, we were inspired to take a look back at some of the magnificent trimwork shown in the very first season.
In American Horror Story: Murder House, the true star of the hit FX show was the Los Angeles mansion used for filming. Built in 1908 by architect Alfred F. Rosenheim, this 14,000 square foot home boasts impressive interior finishings throughout. With the homes mixture of Tudor and Collegiate Gothic styling, the rich wood trim gives the home a distinctively eerie look.
This mixture of style is particularly evident in the grand foyer where every nook and cranny reveals another luxurious detail. From the straight lines in the baseboard and wainscoting to the sharp corners in the architraves above the door and Tiffany stained-glass window to the coffered ceiling in the grand foyer, this home is a spectacular example of lavish trimwork at its finest.
